Out and About: Photos from Togo
Every Sunday morning I attend a Catholic church with my friends in village.
On Fridays, I go to Mosque.
Drinking Tchouk (the local beer) with friends from Peace Corps.
Woke up one morning to this lovely surprise! Glad I didn't step on it.
With some Peace Corps friends in Kpalime, a larger city in Togo near the border of Ghana.
I explored a waterfall in Kpalime.
You know we're Peace Corps volunteers when we wander around with beer and our motorcycle helmets.
My Peace Corps friends and I bought matching pagne fabric and had overalls made. It was a true test of our French ability to explain overalls to the tailor.
The boys who have my heart and live next door. Jacques is 7 months old and Eli is almost 2 years old.
I visited my friend and closest Peace Corps neighbor, Tarah, in her village. My friend and village neighbor, Christine (far left), came and prepared couscous for us to enjoy

There is a large garden in my community on the bank of the river. I was so happy to find the garden and know that I have access to fresh vegetables! This is cabbage.

My friend and neighbor, Christine, carrying a table on her head. She carried this table from a neighboring village almost 3km away.

This man is making traditional pagne (fabric) with his hands through weaving. This type of fabric is very expensive and only worn on special occasions.

My friend and closest neighbor, Tarah, visited me and we prepared fufu for my nurse. I am grinding onions, ginger, garlic and tomatoes for the sauce.
In the middle of February I went to a week-long Peace Corps training on how to design and implement projects in my community. I brought along two counterparts from my community. This is the president of the community committee for development, Kodjo. He is receiving a certificate for completing Peace Corps training.
